Our Story
Heart & Hands Midwifery and Family Healthcare was founded by Honey Newton in 2014. We are an independent clinic that strives to provide access to high quality healthcare to anyone who needs it. Our core values include compassion, empathy, evidence-based care, collaboration and education. We passionately apply the fundamentals of the midwifery model to individualized care that includes the physical and emotional well-being of each person we serve. We are actively engaged in the community and strive to create a safe space for all people.

Honey Newton, CNM, FNP
Honey is a Certified Nurse Midwife and a Family Nurse Practitioner with degrees from Gonzaga University, the University of Utah, and Colorado Mesa University. Prior to becoming a provider, she served as a Biologist in Colorado. She is the lead Lecturer for Gender in the Graduate School of Nursing at Gonzaga University. She started Heart & Hands in 2014 as a small, independent practice and is committed to providing the best medically available care to patients in all stages of life. She loves to spend time in the wilderness and run long races. She is the mother of 14 Foster/Adopted/Biological children.
Misha Russ, CNM
Misha is a Certified Nurse Midwife. She completed her first graduate program at Harbor-UCLA in 1998. During the following decade she worked as a nurse practitioner providing prenatal care, a sexual assault examiner at UCLA-Santa Monica, and as a volunteer at the Mae Tao clinic in Thailand. Misha received her graduate degree in Midwifery from Frontier Nursing University, completing her clinical training at Heart & Hands with Jeanne and Honey in 2019. Most recently, she has completed certification training in Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorder management, and is committed to integrating mental health and substance use disorder treatment into women’s primary care.
Laura Jones, FNP
Laura is a Family Nurse Practitioner. She completed her Master of Science in nursing at Gonzaga University, and her undergraduate degree at the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. She and her husband were both born and raised in the Flathead Valley, and after having been supported by those that lived here whilst growing up, they wanted to return the favor by sharing their practices within this beautiful valley. She feels privileged to offer her services to patients throughout their lifespan. She is committed to partnering with patients to help them live the life they choose. When out of the office, you will find Laura with her husband and two blue heelers exploring Montana or basking in its beauty - likely with a tasty coffee in hand.
Christie Weseman, CNM
Christie is a Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) with degrees from Frontier Nursing University and Montana State University. She has experience caring for families in the Flathead Valley for the last twelve years and more recently has been providing midwifery services on the Blackfeet reservation.
Christie’s primary goals are partnership in care, empathetic communication, shared decision making, and providing safety and comfort through the most vulnerable of times.
When not working, Christie spends time with her children, pup, friends and family. She enjoys good food, books, learning, and travel, but most enjoys outdoor adventures with the ones she loves.
Brooke Hoving, FNP
Brooke is a Family Nurse Practitioner who earned her graduate degree from Simmons University after obtaining her undergraduate degree from the College of Saint Scholastica. She has worked in a variety of care settings in the United States and served as a missionary nurse in Honduras. Brooke loves working with patients of all ages and caring for entire families. She aims to provide holistic healthcare for her patients. Brooke loves the outdoors and spends her free time in the mountains skiing, biking, or running. She is always looking for ways to help families in our community.
Chris Skieens, CNM
Chris is a Certified Nurse Midwife who received her MSN from Frontier Nursing University in 2018. Prior to entering midwifery, Chris was a labor and delivery nurse for 13 years. Her focus is to help empower birthing people and their families with care options, informed choice, self-determination and shared decision-making, with respect, and in a safe space. Chris also provides well-woman care, contraception, preconception, and she is passionate about serving the LGBTQ+ community in a comfortable space to meet their individual needs. When not working, she loves spending time with her husband, their son and two dogs. She enjoys creating art, live music, camping, hiking, skiing, and fishing.
Brian Bales, FNP
Brian is a dedicated Family Nurse Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in the nursing field. He is commitment to improving health outcomes for families have established him as a trusted healthcare provider.
Brian earned his undergraduate degree in nursing at Carroll College. His passion for advancing his skills led him to pursue a master's degree in nursing from Walden University, where he specialized in family practice. Brian's approach combines clinical expertise with a compassionate understanding of his patients' needs.
Outside of his professional life, Brian is an avid skier and paddleboarder. Whether navigating the slopes or gliding across the water, Brian values the great outdoors.
Nicole Martin (Bierens), WHNP
Nicole was born and raised in Bay City, Michigan. She completed her undergraduate BS in Nursing through Saginaw Valley State University. Her Master's degree in Women's Health as a Nurse Practitioner was completed at University of Cincinnati. Since graduating she has completed further education and training in bioidentical hormone therapy, functional medicine, Ketamine infusions, IV therapy, and skin care modalities and treatments.
She has been passionate about women's health since working as an RN in labor and delivery. She believes that, with education and support in place, individual goals are more achievable. She utilizes a combination of her skills to treat the whole person and help them live the healthiest and best life they can.
When she is not seeing patients, Nicole enjoys spending time with her family, being active and being outdoors, reading or just relaxing.
